Mijn Verkoopmakelaar starts rollout in Rotterdam
Choosing the best real estate agent to sell your house from behind your computer, without having them all come over? From August 1, 2019, it's possible: Mijn Verkoopmakelaar, the start-up founded by Ron Kesting, Michel Bardelmeijer, Antoine Steenkamer, and Rotterdam entrepreneur Stefan Lazarov, will officially be rolled out in Rotterdam.

Mijn Verkoopmakelaar assists homeowners in selling their houses: homeowners can post photos of their property online and choose from which real estate agents they would like to receive a response. The real estate agents then review the information and prepare a response on how they would sell the property, what fees they would charge, and how much they think the property could yield. This way, homeowners can make a well-informed choice for the most suitable real estate agent from the comfort of their sofa.

Multiple mornings off
The idea arose when Antoine's parents wanted to sell their house. “Nowadays, it's quite normal to find a new house on websites like Funda, but choosing a suitable real estate agent is still a time-consuming, offline process. My parents had to take multiple mornings off to receive all the real estate agents at home before they could make a choice,” said Antoine, “we thought: there has to be an easier way.”
Rapid growth
In just a few months since its inception in early 2019, 230 real estate agency offices in the Netherlands have already joined Mijn Verkoopmakelaar: a number that is rapidly increasing. “Especially in Rotterdam, many homeowners have chosen a real estate agent through the website in recent months; that's why Rotterdam is the first major city where we are officially starting,” said Lazarov. There is no lack of ambition: if the results are good, Mijn Verkoopmakelaar will also officially start in The Hague, Utrecht, and Amsterdam.
Good timing
The rollout of the website comes at a good time. Last week, the NVM announced that in the second quarter, more owners have finally put their homes up for sale and the price increase seems to be leveling off. Ger Jaarsma, outgoing chairman of NVM, even called it “A good time to sell.”
